THE
INSTITUTION OF ENGINEERS, BANGLADESH AMENDMENTS OF THE
CONSTITUTION
APPROVED
IN THE EXTRA-ORDINARY GENERAL MEETING HELD ON 20.11.1999
Article 74.
Engineering
Registration Board
(a)
The
Institution shall establish a registration board to
regulate the
engineering profession
and matters related therewith as well as
the
development
of the professional Engineers.
(b)
The
Registration board shall be named as the Bangladesh
Professional
Engineers
Registration Board.
Article 75.
The
Composition of the Board
(a)
The
composition of the Board
i)
The
Chairman who shall be an eminent engineer, to be
nominated by the
Council of The
Institution form a list of three eminent engineers,
proposed
by a committee
formed by the President of The Institution.
ii)
The
Vice-President (Academic) of The Institution of
Engineers, Bangladesh
(Ex-officio).
iii)
A
representative of the Bangladesh University of
Engineering and
Technology.
iv)
One member from amongst the Directors of the BITs
nominated by
the Council of the BITs.
v)
One
member form amongst the Principal of Vice Chancellors of
the Private
Colleges and Universities that award engineering degrees and are
registered under the Bangladesh Private University Act 1992. This member
shall be nominated by the University Grants Commission.
vi)
Two Cooperate member of the Institution of Engineers,
Bangladesh to be
nominated by the Council of The Institution.
vii)
Two engineers from the public sector, holding or held
not less than the
rank of Chief Engineer or equivalent and having good academic
records
and professional experience,
nominated by the Council of The Institution.
viii)
Four members representing the Private Sectors nominated
by the Council
of The Institution as per
provision of the Bye-Laws.
ix)
Five eminent members from other professions nominated by
the Council
of The Institution as per
provision of the Bye-Laws.
x)
One member form a regional/international engineering
professional body by
invitation form the
Council of The Institution.
xi)
All members with the exception of those mentioned in
75(s) (viii), (xi) &
above shall be Corporate
Members of The Institution.
Article 76.
Terms of Office
(a)
The term of office of the Board shall be 4 years,
one-half of the members
of the Board
shall be replaced election of The Institution following
the
constitution
of the Board. The President of The Institution shall
select this
one-half of
the first Board.
Article 77.
Registration
A
Corporate Member of The Institution, fulfilling the
prescribed
requirements of the Board
and having his/her name entered in the Register
at the
order of the Board, shall be
called a Professional Engineer and shall
be entitled to
use the abbreviations PEng. after
his or her name, and shall
be able to use such insignia,
emblems etc. as the Board
may prescribe and
award as long as his/her name is on
the Register.
